Google is in talks with Dish Network, the us satellite TV giant, to create a fourth mobile operator in the us, a foreign media source said recently, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Alan Mulally, a board member of Alphabet, Google's parent company, recently held talks with Dish Network about plans to jointly create a fourth mobile operator in the us, according to people familiar with the matter. The initial plan is for Google and Dish Network to jointly create a new Mobile operator, using assets acquired from t-mobile, another Mobile operator.

In April last year, t-mobile agreed to buy Sprint in an all-share deal worth about $26.5 billion. This would mean a merger of the us's third and fourth largest mobile operators, reducing the number of large operators nationwide from four to three.

But in late may, people familiar with the matter said that as a condition of approving the t-mobile deal, the doj wanted t-mobile to merge with Sprint to create a new carrier to compete with.
